Since 1982 Jeff has worked in leadership positions at organizations such as EMC, Investors Bank & Trust, Hanover Insurance Group, General Electric, Lockheed Martin, and Marriott International.
Jeff is currently the VP, Chief Security Officer for ITSolutions located in Silver Spring, Maryland and is founding member of and author for the Cloud Security Alliance.
He was awarded the RSA 2007 Conference award for Excellence in the Field of Security Practices and his team won the 2007 SC Magazine Award – Best Security Team award. Jeff has held contract positions at the EPA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and supported security efforts at the FDA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and HRSA (HHS). Jeff has also worked in IT and security support positions while at Aspen Systems providing solutions to the DOJ, CDC, NIH, NCI, HUD and NCJRS.
Mr. Bardin served in the USAF as a cryptologic linguist, the USANG as an officer, at the National Security Agency holding a Top Secret SCI/SBI clearance and holds a BA in Middle East Studies & Arabic Language from Trinity College as well as a MS in Information Assurance from Norwich University. Jeff currently holds a TS SSBI clearance.
Mark Bowker

Mark Bowker joined ESG in 2006 and currently champions ESG’s Data Center Transformation practice, focusing on all things virtualization and cloud computing. In his current role, Mark researches the various virtualization technologies available and the impact these solutions have on IT strategies and the broader marketplace. His other research areas include cloud computing, data center management, and application workload deployment in next generation data centers, as well as the external influences that drive the adoption of these technologies.
Prior to ESG, Mark ran the IT organization for a business consulting and technology services company and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. He has experience in designing, implementing, and expanding network and system infrastructure for global organizations.
Mark holds a BS in Management Information Systems from American International College and a continuing education certificate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in UNIX administration and C++ programming. He is also a private pilot. You can usually find him flying around the skies of New England on the weekends.
Venkatapathi Puvvada
Managing Partner, Horizontal Services - Federal Systems

Venkatapathi Puvvada (PV) is the Vice President & Managing Partner for the Federal Horizontal Services Business Segment and is a key member of the Executive team. In this role, PV and his team are responsible for P&L and service delivery operations of Unisys full Portfolio of solutions across all Federal market segments. The Horizontal services unit is also responsible for strategy, solutions innovation, portfolio development, sales support, and alliances and engineering. Prior to this role, PV served as the vice president and chief technology officer for Unisys Federal Systems. In this role, PV and his executive team were responsible for CTO Office, Strategic Programs, research and development, and alliance partnerships. In addition, PV provides leadership for development and governance of all technical resources through Unisys World Class Architect (WCA) program.
PV served as the Chair of the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) till July 1, 2008 and continues to advise its current leadership. IAC represents over 540 companies serving various major government organizations and IAC provides vendor neutral advise to the government on innovative use of IT to improve government services.
PV has over 20 years of experience in several businesses and IT disciplines and is a recognized thought leader in government IT. PV is an author and regularly speaks about various topics including Cloud, IT Service Management, business transformation, enterprise security and technology innovation. PV and his team work with all major agencies including HHS, OMB, USDA, FDIC, FAA, TSA, DHS, DoD and GSA in the development of strategy and the execution of mission programs. During his career, PV served in various leadership roles starting from technical management progressing to senior management ranks.
PV has been actively involved with various organizations including IAC, Object Management Group (OMG), Tech America, NVTC, National Association of State CIOs, AFCEA, NDIA and IIT Alumni association. PV served on several non profit boards including TIE-DC (The Indus Entrepreneurs), Penn State University, National Defense University and The President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee’s (NSTAC) Industry Executive Subcommittee.
For his innovation and collaborative contributions to government, PV received the prestigious Fed 100 Awards in 2003, 2005 and 2008 and IAC’s Industry Contributor of the Year in 2004.
P.V. holds a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and holds several other professional certifications.
While virtualization and cloud computing have tremendous IT and business potential, these technologies require new types of contractual scrutiny, physical/technology controls, and oversight to provide visibility and manageability for stringent Federal government requirements Since Federal agencies must adhere to a variety of regulations (i.e. FISMA, DOD, CNCI, etc.) and NIST-800 series best practices, this session will focus on:
> The incongruity between cloud computing and current IT governance and compliance requirements, and strategies for reconciling the mismatch, including current federal government efforts to bridge these gaps
> Strategies for addressing legal/contractual requirements, audit requirements, and oversight/visibility requirements
> Best practices from industry and government experts
