Track 3: KM in the Dept. of Defense

DOD Roundtable

05/03/10

8:45 AM - 11:30 AM

DoD organizations were pioneers in knowledge management within the federal government. Many groups have had isolated successes of impacting daily operations through sound KM concepts and solutions. However, it has proven difficult to establish an overarching DoD KM strategic vision and a coordinated way-ahead which could provide guidance and enhancements to DoD Enterprise KM doctrine and processes. This DoD roundtable has been organized to include many of the KM thought leaders within the DoD community. Its purpose is to provide a forum for an ongoing discussion among these individuals to identify the challenges, potential solutions, and coordination required to build a robust and enduring professional DoD KM program. The first half of the roundtable will be a facilitated discussion amongst the thought leaders. The second half of this session will be extended to the full audience to engage these leaders with questions, suggestions, opinions, and concerns. The desired outcome of this session is to identify opportunities within the DoD KM community to coordinate efforts which could potentially become the building blocks for Enterprise KM doctrine and processes.
